Henry Bennetts was born in England in about 18741. His parents were Henry and Mary Bennetts.2

After immigrating to America in about 18813, Henry married Elizabeth Nichols in 1900 in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania.4 By 1912, the couple had become parents to six sons – John, Cecil, Raymond, David, Henry, and Paul – all born in Pennsylvania.5

In 1913, the family moved to Butte from Smokerun, Pennsylvania, where Henry worked in the coal mines.6 In March of 1914, the couple welcomed a seventh son, James.7 Sadly, James died of whooping cough several years later on May 3, 1916. 8

Tragedy struck again when Henry died a little over a year later, leaving Elizabeth to raise six sons: Cecil, 13; John, 12; Raymond, 9; David, 8; Henry, 6; and Paul, 3.[Ibid., The Butte daily post. (Butte, Mont., 13 June 1917.]
